Psalm 119:32

I will [not merely walk, but] run the way of Your commandments, when You give me a heart that is willing. (Psalm 119:32 AMP) I'll run the course you lay out for me if you'll just show me how. (Psalm 119:32 MSG) I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. (Psalm 119:32 KJV) I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. (Psalm 119:32 NIV) Here is why I love this scripture.  I think most people would take this simply as 'God, I will run after you'. Which is good.  We should be running after God and not walking, crawling or doing anything else short of a full on sprint towards Him.  We shouldn't be pacing ourselves for the race towards God.  We should be sprinting and relying on His strength to carry us all the way to the finish line. What stands out to me in the verse is “...when you give me a heart that is willing” (amp).  This means a couple different things.  First, that we do not already have this heart inside of us.  That we have to seek the Lord and He will give us this heart.  “He is the rewarder of those who earnestly  and  diligently seek Him [out]”(Hebrews 11:6 AMP) Second, that God may keep this heart from us for a time.  I'm not saying this is a set truth.  I'm not saying God will prevent people from running after Him. All I know is that from the sounds of this verse, God did not release this heart to the psalmist immediately. The psalmist had to ask and seek God for the heart. Whenever I've thought about true repentance, I've thought of this new heart.  Repentance is a changing of heart.  Repentance is a turning your life from things of the past towards the things of the future.  From sin to Jesus. Repentance is not simply asking for forgiveness.  This idea of fake repentance has been preached for too long.  If this is the case than every time I sin I should not be telling Jesus “I repent” unless I have had that true heart change.  I have been telling God lately, “lord I am sorry.  Thank you for forgiving me.  I have not changed completely yet so I  will not repent.  Lord give me a new heart.”  I believe we need to begin asking God for a new heart.  The heart pumps life to every other area of our bodies.    The Christ centered and changed heart will bring us a new life. Ask God for a new heart and seek Him for His plan.  This will bring the winds of change we have been praying for.
